Join us on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. for The Power of Bird-Friendly Design with Steve Betchkal.

Learn four ways we can build bird conservation into the community.

Wild birds are in trouble. And unfortunately, the reason is us. Allowing house cats to roam free, the indiscriminate use of environmental toxins, thoughtless landscaping, and shiny glass and metal structures are annually killing birds by the billions. That brings up two immediate questions: What can you do about it? And what are you going to do about it? Ornithologist and ecologist Steve Betchkal can help you answer that. Books will be available for purchase and signing after the program.

Steve Betchkal has hiked/camped/backpacked/traveled all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, 88 National Wildlife Refuges, 85 National Parks, 55 National Forests, and 4 Canadian provinces in pursuit of wild birds. In 2017, he worked in the Galápagos for Lindblad-National Geographic.

Steve is an ornithologist, ecologist, Master Naturalist, and Eau Claire liaison for Welcome Back Bird Day. He has authored 8 books, including his latest 101 Apologus Nights.
